4) Quality Comparison
5) Staying Power/ Product Life

    PROS AND CONS

    Lakme Eyeconic Kajal

    PROS:
    1) Easily usable Packaging
    2) Most reliable in the market until now
    3) Affordable Price
    4) Appreciable pigmentation and non oily consistency
    5) Suitable for contact lens users

    CONS:
    1) No lasting power beyond 5 hours. Visible and awkward fading and feathering.
    2) 0.35 grams for 210/- (Nope, would like more. About 25% product is stuck underneath the bottom tube, never sees the light.)
    3) Animal Testing
    Lotus Ecostay Kajal

    PROS:
    1) Smooth and creamy, not oily, sets to a matte finish
    2) Gives away the effect of a gel eyeliner, that is, very defined on the eyelid, on first impression.
    3) Good product amount for the price
    4) Stays true to claim for 10 hours. Lasted on me from 4 PM up till 3 AM without a budge. Definitely true to its claim.

    5) No animal testing.
    6) Free from Paraben, something a lot of cosmetic consumers prefer.
    7) Suitable for contact lens users

    CONS:
    1) Packaging can be irky for some. A good move would be to use a lip liner's sharpener to achieve least product wastage. Product can also be saved by using a stroke, rotating the kajal slightly and using the next stroke. On repetition, this will keep the tip sharp and pointy and save product as much as possible.

    SMUDGE TEST 1:

Mild rub after a few seconds from application:

Left: Swatch of Lotus Esostay kajal- longer     Right: Swatch of Lakme Eyeconic- Shorter

There is visible fading and feathering of Lakme Eyeconic just after a few seconds of application. Lotus Ecostay survives in terms of intensity and color with a very very mild, negligible amount of cloudiness.

    SMUDGE TEST 2:

A more vigorous rub this time to declare the winner.

Left: Swatch of Lotus Esostay kajal- longer     Right: Swatch of Lakme Eyeconic- Shorter

Clearly, Lakme Eyeconic has survival issues. Lotus Ecostay sits tight, glued to the skin. I don't need to declare a winner now, do I, with the obviousness glaring at our face and all that?

Lotus Ecostay, thus, is more reliable than Lakme Eyeconic in terms of staying power and smudge proof tendency!

    WATERPROOF TEST RESULT:

Lotus Ecostay survives a wash of water but when rubbed hard will fade.
Lakme Eyeconic does not survive a wash of water and  smudges after coming in contact with water.

LASTING POWER ON EVERYDAY USE (ONCE):

LAKME EYECONIC: 2 months at maximum
LOTUS ECOSTAY: 4 months at minimum

    QUANTITY COMPARISON:

LOTUS ECOSTAY: Rs. 325 for 1.2 gm of product

LAKME EYECONIC: Rs. 210 for 0.35 gm of product
Neglecting wastage of about 0.3 gm in Lotus and 0.1 gm in Lakme Eyeconic (the kajal that is stuck under the lower tube) Lotus Ecostay it is still half the amount priced higher than Lakme for 4 times the quantity of Lakme Eyeconic.

If you ask me, I would be a regular buyer of Lotus Ecostay Kajal henceforth and if packaging seems to be a problem, I would advise to shift to Lotus Colorkick which has the same retractable mechanism and product quality going on, but lesser quantity and price than Ecostay.

With offers around, you could purchase Lotus Ecostay for as little as Rs. 275/- and Lakme Eyeconic for as little as 170/- from www.amazon.com, www.nykaa.in or www.purplle.com
